CALL FOR SHORT-TERM POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP

                                                           

 

The Centre for European Studies of the Yerevan State University is pleased to announce a call for applications for a short-term Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Political Science, Sociology, or relevant fields. This fellowship is designed for a minimum duration of two months, with a part-time workload. This call aims at supporting young researchers’ careers and fostering excellence in policy evaluation.

This call is announced within Horizon Europe “REDEMOS: Reconfiguring EU Democracy Support. Towards a Sustained Demos in the EU’s Eastern Neighbourhood” project.  REDEMOS brings together a consortium of eleven research-oriented and academic institutions, including six universities, four independent think tanks, and one small and medium-sized enterprise from all across Europe, to address the fragile state of democracy in Eastern Europe and provide ways forward for EU democracy support in its eastern neighbourhood. The project will take a deep dive into the full array of political and governance regimes in the EU’s eastern neighbourhood, from flawed democratization in some countries to democratic regression and even repressive authoritarianism in others.

Position: Post-Doctoral Fellow

Duration: Minimum of two months

Workload: Part-time

 

Requirements:

  • PhD in Political Science, Sociology, or a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in EU foreign policy, democracy promotion, or related areas.
  • Strong research, analytical and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of English.

Responsibilities: The PhD fellow is expected to:

  • Conduct in-depth research on EU foreign policy and democracy support programs in the Eastern Neighbourhood,
  • Analyse relevant policy documents, case studies, and academic literature,
  • Collaborate with research teams and participate in related events,
  • Produce working papers outlining findings, conclusions, and policy recommendations,
  • Participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences.

Submission Deadline: December 29, 2024

Selection Process: Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee, and shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview in the beginning of January. The selection committee will consider the candidate’s research expertise, potential contribution to ongoing projects, and overall fit with the research community.

Remuneration: The fellowship includes a stipend with part-time workload and duration.
